A Message from the Director

As I sit here writing my message to all of you, the rain is relentless, but I remind myself that our gardens will reap the benefits of the very best nourishment possible. Soon, they will spring to life with fresh colors and the abundance that only a well-nourished garden can provide.

While nature is hard at work preparing our gardens, the Second District is equally hard at work planning many exciting events for all of you to enjoy and take advantage of in the months ahead.

Why not attend the Annual Convention being held June 14th–16th at the Crowne Plaza, Albany - The Desmond Hotel? There will be lectures, workshops, design presentations, and vendors. It is always a wonderful opportunity to learn, be inspired, and spend time with fellow gardeners from across the state. All of the information can be found on our website, District2FGCNYS.com.

We are looking forward to our July 30th District Luncheon being held at Captain Bill’s Restaurant. The afternoon will feature a presentation by Andrew Pascoe, along with vendors, raffles, and wonderful fellowship with fellow garden club members from across the district. We hope you will join us for what promises to be a beautiful and enjoyable event.

On September 17th, we will be hosting a Design Workshop. Whether you are an experienced designer, just beginning, or simply enjoy observing and learning, this workshop will offer inspiration and creativity for everyone. More details will follow.

We are also excited for our Flower Show School taking place October 5th through 8th. Come and enjoy outstanding instructors who will teach exactly what judges look for when evaluating floral designs and horticulture exhibits in flower shows. Why not consider becoming a judge yourself? I have attended Course 3 and enjoyed every minute of it. Although I do not plan to become a judge, I found the information invaluable and thoroughly enjoyed both the teachers and the camaraderie of fellow attendees. It is truly an enriching experience for anyone interested in expanding their knowledge and appreciation of flower shows.

As always, thank you for all you do to support your clubs and the Second District. Together, we continue to grow, learn, and flourish — just like our gardens.

With warm regards,

Elizabeth Walsh
